"I plan to attend Ferris State University with a major in accounting and a minor in pre-optometry.  What I miss most about school is seeing all my friends and the staff that made everything possible for all of us. Middle School English class accomplishments...coming up: 8th grade: Bonnie K., Lila K.,and Mackenzie S. have completed their informative papers complete with works cited. 😁 Maddie S. has read 1253 words on Readworks Bonnie K. and Lila K. have completed 3 paths out of 5 on EdReady! 7th Grade: Shawntay V., Gabby D. and Malley R. have all become graphic novelists (by completing their comics project). Gabby has also read 345 words on Readworks. Honorary Mentions to Josh B. and Ethan J., as they have almost finished their comics. 6th grade: The Great Reading Race has several contenders right now: Collin R. currently holds the lead with Molly H., Kylie A, Jennifer F. and Cayden M. working to pass him! Young Investors Group: Attention 6th-12th grade students! Are you missing the thrill of competition? Like to learn how using social studies (economics), your life, and current events can be used to make money over a long period of time? Become owners of companies such as Apple, Snapchat, Taco Bell (Yum Brands) and Disney through the power of investing. Join Mr. Henderson this Tuesday, April 28, at 7:00 pm online to learn about the stock market and how it works. You will be in charge of your own paper money account to buy and sell stocks over the next month. Parents are invited to work as a team with their child to research and make investment decisions. A friendly investing competition will be held among participants until June 5. The group will meet online Tuesdays and Thursdays for a brief amount of time. Attendance to all meetings is not necessary. However, the first meeting this Tuesday will be important to learn the platform we will be using. Math is challenging for everyone at times; practice and determination increase your understanding, experience, and ability. Here's some proof: Bridgett M.B., 2nd grader, completed Rocket Math Addition to 20; this is the second level for addition and she's moving on to subtraction level 2 now! 3rd grader, Christopher G. recently completed his division rocket math track! In jr. high EdReady math, Aiden M.S. finished his first study path of 3 for 7th grade and Alekz R. finished the second study path of 3 for 8th grade! Keep it coming, young mathematicians!!

MHS is proud to participate in Friday Night Lights on May 1, 2020! Please read the information in the attached photo. Marion Community & Eagle Nation: You are welcome and encouraged participate by lining both sides of Main St. from the RR tracks to the VFW area. However, you must remain in your cars.   Please make noise for our seniors by honking your horns as they drive past. You may choose to follow the senior vehicles to the high school parking lot for the 20 min. and 20 sec. of lights viewing from our vehicle with your household. If you choose not to participate this way, show your honor and support of the Class of 2020 by leaving your porch lights on from 8:20 for 20 min. and 20 sec. Our photo today is in honor of first grader, RaeLynn E.B. and her math milestone! Joining her in achievements are third graders, Xavier G., Chris G., Marshall L., and Aliyah S. for answering over 200 IXL math questions in the past two weeks! Kohen T. has also passed 7 AR quizzes. Chase M., fourth grader, has completed his first study path for math in EdReady and his classmate, Macy M. has completed her second and is moving on to fifth grade study paths! Here are a few more champions proving they have the courage to continue learning without their usual learning "crowd". Mrs. Whittaker is pleased to announce Kohen T., 3rd grader, passed a challenging topic with consonant patterns on System 44. He is now 2 topics away from reaching a new series! 2nd graders are reaching new heights with IXL math with continued use from this year. Akeelah T. has accumulated 20 hrs of practice recently and Alexis R. has answered 8,500 math questions! There is a Great Reading Race of 2020 occurring in 6th grade. Collin M, and Cayden M. have completed the first challenge! The sixth grade as a whole have also answered 200 social studies questions with IXL since we've kicked off distance learning! Keep up the courageous effort!! Go Eagle learners!
