SLS (Students Leading Students) and the MHS SEL team and staff would like to remind everyone to take care of yourself the next few days. As we wrap up our semester and have exams on Thursday and Friday this week, you want yourself at your best. Shout out to SLS for creating the bulletin board in our main hall to keep stress relievers, exam/study skills, and stress signs front and center this week. Enlarge the photo for details, but here is the short version:
For stress relief: get enough sleep, focus on your strengths, talk to someone, engage in physical activity, and take time to do something that makes you feel happy.
For exam best results: Drink water, prepare as best you can, take small breaks, have a snack before, be comfortable, and explain your ideas to others to prepare.
MHS staff and SLS wish all the students GOOD THINKING this week!

Some of our second graders have been working with robots this week and learning to use block coding. Today they had to write code to make their robot go around completely a square obstacle course and land on a specific place. They learned what didn't work and made changes to their program. All did well but the group of Atlas and Leilani completed the task with their program.

Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner! As the saying goes, this was true for some MHS students the evening of December 11. The Marion VFW Post 6015 and Auxiliary once again hosted a Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contest and a banquet to honor those who won. It wasn't a chicken dinner, but it was a delicious turkey dinner!
The high school Voice of Democracy contest was one by Noah Simons. In the middle school category, the Patriot's Pen essay had the following winners: 4th pplace, Jane VanEpps; 3rd place, Teagan Belcher; 2nd place, Veda Simons; and in 1st place, Silas Moore. Congratulations to all the authors of the patriotic essays and a big thank you to Deanna and the V Diner for providing the meal!

Our Career Prep Academy students visited the Career Technical Center today to explore the Applied Construction Technology (ACT) program. They had a great hands-on experience building Christmas trees and learning more about the opportunities the ACT program has to offer. 🎄🛠️
